18th birthday party photography surprises and celebrations

Documentary event photography at Star Inn the City, York.

I had a lovely walk along the river Ouse in York on my way to document this surprise 18th birthday get together at Star Inn the City. Admittedly i’d only been once before, during lockdown as it was a gorgeous place to sit outside overlooking the river, but this event was in December, in a lovely cosy room with the most stunning wallpaper. Everything was set when I arrived, just as the balloon artist was leaving. I love to get to a party really early (so uncool I know), I love to witness everyone’s arrival, and the stillness before the storm/excitement!

For the surprise everyone had masks to wear which was hilarious and a little disturbing at the same time! Drinks followed beautiful dinner, speeches and cake and a brilliant time was had by all. Here’s a few of my favourite photographs from the session along with the slideshow (if you scroll to the end).

Event photography slideshow

Included in all event collections is a slideshow set to music which you can watch on repeat and share with friends and family. It’s a lovely to look back on every so often and enjoy the highlights of the special occasion.

Let the time of your life be documented without a care in the world.

Enjoy yourselves, get lost in the moment, and allow the genuine moments of joy, humour and warmth to be documented without a care in the world.

I love a good family get together; I photograph all types of events; anniversary parties, milestones, birthday parties, celebrations, commiserations and anything else you can shake a balloon at, with a storytelling approach. I strive to make real photographs of loved ones, families, and friendships that matter to you.

Let’s capture the time of your lives.

Event photography packages are available from £750, get in touch to enquire about your special occasion or event, i’d love to hear from you.
